Stance Socks: Legends of Horror Collection
Horror movies and Halloween are two of the greatest things in the world, from a certain perspective, that is. Horror movies give us a chance to feel that real physical snse of fear and dred in a safe and comfortable way. Halloween, lets us know that we can take our fears, become more familiar with them, then play with them. It’s these little moments of fear which make us realise we are truly alive and have a lot to be thankful for.
Due to the success of the range last year, Stance Socks have expanded their ‘Legends of Horror’ collection to include a Mike Myers sock (Just in time for the new Halloween movie) and a character from one of the most disturbing and bleak horror franchises ever Hellraiser! These two new styles add to the Freddy & Jason collections launched last year which have been re-released due to the fact that the socks were awesome.
So, without further ado lets have a look at the new styles and old favourites in more detail, and don’t forget, if these are a bit much for you why not check out our Sinister Socks promo page with designs including Scooby Doo, Micheal Jackson Thriller and more!
Stance Michael Myers Socks
Halloween is one of the original and still one of the best slasher films produced. Released in 1978 directed and scored by John Carpenter, co-written with producer Debra Hill, and starring Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis in her film debut it was the standard which spawned a whole genre. The film tells the story of serial killer Michael Myers as he stalks and kills teenage babysitters on Halloween night. The film predominately focuses on Michael who was committed to a sanitarium as a child for the murder of his older sister Judith Myers. Fifteen years later, he escapes to stalk and kill the people of the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois while being chased by his former psychiatrist, Samuel Loomis. Michael stalks Laurie Strode and her friends as they babysit.
Halloween is a widely influential film within the horror genre; it was largely responsible for the popularization of slasher films in the 1980s. Halloween popularized many tropes that have become completely synonymous with the slasher genre. It helped to popularize the final girl trope, the killing off of characters who are substance abusers or sexually promiscuous, and the use of a theme song for the killer. Carpenter also shot many scenes from the perspective of the killer in order to build tension. These elements have become so established that many historians argue that Halloween is responsible for the new wave of horror that emerged during the 1980s. Due to its popularity, Halloween became a blueprint for success that many other horror films, such as Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street, would follow, and that others like Scream would satirise

Stance Hellraiser Socks
I know this film may seem tame by modern standards but if you have ever had the misfortune of accidentally putting on a film as a kid when you were up when you shouldn’t you may begin to understand the absolute terror which permeates my body every time I see Pinhead or one of his Cenobites. The abject despair, pain and anguish presented by Clive Barker’s masterpiece still terrify’s me to this day.
Hellraiser is a 1987 British-American horror film written and directed by Clive Barker, based on his novella The Hellbound Heart. The film involves the resurrection of Frank, who had opened the door to an alternate dimension and had his body torn to pieces by creatures known as Cenobites. Years later, Frank’s brother Larry moves into their late mother’s abandoned house with new wife Julia. An accident causes some of Larry’s blood to spill on the attic floor, which triggers Frank’s resurrection. To complete his resurrection, he requires more blood which Julia provides while Kirsty Cotton, Larry’s daughter, discovers Frank’s puzzle box which leads her to meet with the Cenobites. This really is a dark vision of Hell which no one has yet bettered.
The Stance Hellraiser Socks in Black are made for comfort but are also terrifyingly brilliant. Stance has summoned horror’s favourite hardware-inspired Hellraiser, Pinhead, for a wildly wicked collaboration. Stance promise this won’t hurt a bit.

Released in May 1980, Friday the 13th was a major box office success. Critical response to the film was divided, with some praising the film’s cinematography, score, and performances, while numerous others derided it for its depiction of graphic violence.
