Bam Margera – Skateboarding Legend

If you are a fan of skateboarding, you probably heard of Bam Margera. He is one of the best skateboarders from the USA. He appeared in many movies and television shows – Jackass movies, Viva La Bam, Bam’s Unholy Union… After Tony Hawk and Rodney Mullen, he is probably one of the most influential and most famous skateboarders of all time.

Bam Margera – personal data

 

He was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, on September 28th, 1979. He currently lives in Pocopson Township, Pennsylvania.

During his life, Bam Margera has changed many occupations – skateboarding, stunting, acting, music, filmmaking… He had two marriages. He is the younger brother of Phil Margera and the nephew of Vincent Margera.

His worldwide known nickname is Bam, his real name being Brandon. The nickname was given by his grandfather. At the age of 3, he had a bad habit of running into walls.

Bam’s current net worth is 45 million dollars.

 

Bam Margera – skateboarding career

His skateboarding career started in 1997 when his sponsor was Toy Machine Skateboards. During 2001, Bam Margera was a demonstrator for Element Skateboards. Before 2016, Bam Margera had no team at all, he had only been sponsored at this time.

His sponsors include – Adio Footwear, Speed Metal Bearings, Electric Sunglasses, Volcom, Landspeed Wheels, Destructo Trucks, Destroyer Trucks, Fairman’s Skateshop… In 2017, Bam published pulling back from the world of professional skateboarding. He only competes for fun currently.

He signs a lot of decks. He is known for the memorable Bam’s deck designs, which is (apparently) the main source of his current income.

 

Bam Margera – television and film achievements – the master of a public eye

 

Bam Margera had many roles in movies and television shows.

Margera started stunt sessions which turned into CKY video series .Many of his friends were involved in stunting during the early age – Ryan Dunn, Brandon Novak, Johnny Knoxville… Bam and his friends soon became known as the CKY crew.

He was a writer of the Jackass Movie, which was released in 2002. There were many pranks in this movie including stunts hurting each other or challenging people intentionally to gain attention. This was one of the most successful movies. Despite some scenes being really disgusting. Take a look at the best scenes.

There were later many other successful Jackass movies. Bam Margera appeared in Jackass Number Two, Jackass 3D, Jackass: The Movie and Jackass 3.5. Many of the scenes were filmed around West Chester. This was the first hit film ever in the world with that type of content. Bam Margera really had an amazing idea which made him a celebrity and a world-wide known personality.

In the movie Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Bam successfully acted the role of an Irish dock worker.

In 2003, he acted the role of Valo in the movie Haggard. He was a writer, director, and an executive producer of the movie.

There is only one more role where Bam Margera didn’t act himself. It happened in 2009, in the movie Minghags. Again, Bam was a writer, director, and an executive producer.

Bam Margera – a musician

 

The proof that creativity has no endings has seen when Margera became a musician. He has shown that he likes music and he started a great career.

Margera began with a weekly radio, called Bam Radio, in November 2004.

In 2005, he became the creator of the music label. Its name was Filthy Note Records. He is a director of several music videos.

Bam Margera plays the keyboard in the band called Gnarkill.

Margera created his band, Fucking Unstoppable, in 2013. Many people taught this is a joke band, but Margera had other intentions. The debut album was released in May 2014.

There is one more new band in his life – Evesdroppers. Its self-titled album was released in September 2016, under the name Casual Madness.

 

Bam Margera – personal life

 

Bam Margera was first engaged to Jenn Rivell. At the time, she was a divorced single mother. Their relationship was ended in 2005. In 2006, Rivell broke into his home, and he signed for “protection from abuse”.

In 2006, he engaged to Melissa “Missy” Rothstein. She was his childhood sweetheart. The couple went on honeymoon in Dubai. The couple also had a large wedding- more than 350 people were invited. The couple divorced in November 2012. This is considered the main reason was Margera’s drinking problem.

He married Nicole Boyd in 2013 in Reykjavik, Iceland. He got his first child, a boy named Phoenix Wolf, on September 7, 2017.

He has legally changed his name to Bam in 2007.

He is the owner of Castle Bam, an amazing home which has a gothic architecture, skate park, and a huge land surface of 57,000 square meters.

Bam Margera was attacked by a baseball bat in 2010. According to the witnesses, he has called Elizabeth Ray the n-word, for which she attacked him. He was hospitalised for the night with head injuries.

 

Bam Margera is definitively one of the most influential skateboarders of all times. He earned the highest place in the world of skateboarders, alongside Tony Hawk, Mark Gonzalez, Bob Burnquist and Rodney Mullen.
