Ben Howard – Surfers Success at The BRIT Awards
Here at Urban Surfer HQ, we love Ben Howard. From songs like ‘Only Love’ to his superb cover of the irritatingly catchy ‘Call Me Maybe’, we think he’s great.
As well as being one of the best (if not the best!) singer-songwriter in the UK, he is also a keen surfer! Born in London, Ben moved to Devon a few years later. This is where his love of music and surfing began.
As you all probably know, he won two BRIT awards last week! He defeated the likes of Plan B and Calvin Harris to be crowned Best British Male Solo Artist, whilst also beating off competition from Jake Bugg to be awarded Best British Breakthrough act.
A lover of the water, Ben has performed on beaches all over the UK, including a gig not too far from our North East base, up at Whitley Bay, North Tyneside.
As Ben becomes more and more popular around the Globe following his passion of music, his other passion of surfing, unfortunately, has to take a back seat. Though he does try to surf whenever time allows.

Urban Surfer started up as a physical store in Exeter back in 1995. A lot has changed since then including a new owner based in the North East. We’ve grown into one of the UK’s largest online retailers of skate, surf, ski and urban clothing.
