Jorge Lorenzo stays top of the Moto GP standings as he manufactured a 2nd place behind his main title contender Dani Pedrosa in shocking conditions at the Sepang circuit.
Treacherous amounts of rain led the race to being abandoned after just 14 laps with crashes occurring left, right and centre, the right choice was made. But its always a shame to see such an effected race nonetheless.
But amongst the gloom and misery, it turned out to be a great day, caliming the victory was “amazing” and that he had “never won in the wet before” could this be the catalyst to his season?
Jorge Lorenzo will also have reason to be pleased with the day, seen as though he nearly careered off his bike a number of times and would’ve been relieved to pick up a 2nd place, he may of lost ground on his fellow Spaniard, but it could’ve been so much worse.
Meanwhile Jorge’s team mate Ben Spies continued his woeful campaign by crashing out on the 9th lap, which resulted in fractured shoulder, thus putting him out for the rest of the season, which may well be a relief for the American rider.
Britain’s main interest, Cal Crutchlow was one of the victims of the weather and also had to retire due to a crash.
With the season very much a two horse race now, it’s gonna come down to the wire with there being just 23 points between Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo, on 303 and 330 points respectively, with reigning champ Casey Stoner languishing way behind with 203 points in 3rd.
