CJ Hobgood Crashes Out Of Hotly Contested Hurley Pro

The ASP’s 6th meeting of the season is well under way in the shape of the Hurley Pro over in San Ofore, State Beach, Lower Trestles.

In-form leader and champion of the Billabong pro in Tahiti, Mick Fanning has progressed comfortably through to the Quarter final stage with a comfortable win over fellow compatriot Julian Wilson.

Kelly Slater squares off against tough Frenchman Jeremy Flores in what should be a high quality battle.

The stylish South African Jordy Smith comes up against surprise package Josh Kerr, Jordy has looked hot this time out and could be up for a first ASP title of the season.

And the final match up of round 5 is an all Brazilian affair as Adriano De Souza surfs against Gabriel Medina.

But the shock of the contest so far is the exit of 2011 Tour Champion CJ Hobgood after his 2nd round exit to Matt Wilkinson. And to make matters even worse, his twin brother Damien Hobgood crashed out by the narrowest of margins in the 2nd round also.

But with big swells and a star studded pack still in the competition, this is certainly one to tune in for, consistent 6ft waves are really sorting the men from the boys and the mouthwatering prospect of  a Fanning/Slater final is simply unmissable!

The quarter finalists so far are Taj Burrow, JJ Florence, Joel Parkinson, Adrian Buchan and Mick Fanning.
